Pancreatitis

Pancreatitis affects an upper abdominal organ called the pancreas. This organ produces digestive enzymes and hormones and is vital to your digestive process. Pancreatitis causes a sudden inflammation of the pancreas that typically subsides after a short period but if it becomes chronic it can be life-threatening.

This condition is usually caused by gallstones formed by excessive alcohol use. It can be painful and lead to the death of cells, damage insulin-producing cells, and potentially cause a life-threatening infection. Once Singaram Gastroenterology has diagnosed the severity of the Pancreatitis a comprehensive treatment plan can be developed to aid in recovery.

Symptoms of Pancreatitis can include:

  • Indigestion
  • Hiccups
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Pain that Encircles the Upper Body
  • Abdominal Tenderness
  • Bloating
  • Distended Abdomen
